Exosome

Exosome in Central London

Exosomes can help with a variety of skin concerns, including aging, acne scarring, pigmentation, and rosacea. They can also improve the results of other skincare treatments, such as microneedling and lasers, by reducing inflammation.

What Is It?

Exosomes are small, round vesicles (like tiny bubbles) that are released by almost all types of cells in your body. They’re made when a small part of the cell’s outer membrane pinches off and forms a bubble-like structure. Inside these bubbles, you’ll find proteins, lipids, DNA, RNA, and other molecules that the cell wants to send to other cells. Exosomes can travel through your bloodstream or other body fluids to deliver their cargo to target cells, which can then use this information to change their behaviour or enhance their function.

A topical gel, made from billions of exosomes, is applied to your skin during a microneedling treatment.  These exosomes rejuvenate, reduce inflammation, boost collagen, elastin and natural hydration by the methods described above.

How Do Exosomes Work on the Skin?

Exosomes can improve skin health and appearance in the following ways:

  • Tissue regeneration: Exosomes are loaded with powerful bioactive molecules that stimulate cells to regenerate and repair themselves. They influence the behaviour of recipient cells, promoting processes like cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation, which are essential for tissue healing.
  • Collagen production: Exosomes stimulates the production of collagen, a crucial protein for maintaining skin structure and elasticity.
  • Anti-inflammatory effects: by modulating the immune response and reducing inflammation, Exosomes contribute to the healing of damage skin and alleviate conditions associated with inflammation.
  • Skin hydration: Exosomes contribute to skin hydration by influencing the production of hyaluronic acid which helps retain water and maintain skin moisture.
  • Exosomes can also be applied on the scalp, where they have been found to stimulate hair follicle growth and repair.

During your consultation, your practitioner will assess your concerns, the areas for potential treatment and discuss suitable treatment options with you. With your consent we will take before-treatment pictures and apply numbing cream to the area.

Once the skin is fully anaesthetised, the treatment will begin. The Exosome gel is applied to the skin during the microneedling treatment. Normally patients will feel some sensation of warmth or prickling during treatment but this is very tolerable. The treatment takes from 30 – 60 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated. After treatment, the skin often looks pink and slightly puffy.

You get an immediate glow, that keeps improving for a few months

The results last for a minimum of 6 months. However, this will depend on lifestyle factors such as smoking and sun exposure.

The skin is first numbed with numbing cream. During treatment you may feel some mild-moderate heat or stinging. This is usually very well tolerated.

One of the benefits of this approach is very minimal down-time after treatment. The skin is pink and may be slightly puffy for a day after treatment.

The treatment is performed by fully trained and experienced medical practitioners.

It is important to ensure that the skin has not been excessively damaged or inflamed in the time leading up to the treatment. During your consultation, the practitioner will assess the skin and give you advice about how best to optimise your skin health. This may involve using anti-oxidant serums, drinking plenty of water and avoiding sun exposure before and after treatment.

Avoid sun exposure and heavy exercise post-treatment
